What they do

Product design engineers create or redesign products with consumer trends and needs in mind. In recent years, this can include digital products as well. A product engineer researches their ideas and looks for opportunities to improve a product. They then use software and artistic skills to produce a functional and appealing design. Testing the product and, in some cases, configuring it for mass production is another part of the design engineer’s job. Simply put, the engineer sees the product through from idea to production.

Where they work

Any industry that creates products for consumer use will have a product design engineer, especially for mass production.
